Then, create a thread and discuss your findings - write at least a paragraph (again, please limit your discussion to one anxiety disorder). Be sure to comment on at least two other student's submissions for full credit. https://www.nimh.nih.gov/health/topics/anxiety-disorders/index.shtml https://www.nami.org/Learn-More/Mental-Health-Conditions/Anxiety-Disorders *1st response due Week 14 Friday; reply to at least 2 other students by Sunday

For this week's discussion on anxiety disorders, I chose social anxiety, because although I have not been professionally diagnosed with this disorder, reading all the information on the subject there were many points of which I felt identified. To understand this disorder a little more, social anxiety is the intense and persistent fear of being watched and judged by others. It is normal to feel nervous in some social situations. For example, going on a date or giving a presentation can cause that feeling, but in this disorder, everyday interactions cause a lot of anxiety, insecurity, and shame for fear of scrutiny or the opinion of others. In social anxiety disorder, fear and anxiety lead to withdrawal that can alter our lives, affecting relationships, daily routine, work, school and other activities that involve living with other people.
